When I try to install Vista it says that it can't see me HDD and that I need to install a driver......Where might I find this? Isn't on the Western Digital website..... normally come on the windows disk don't they? Please help!
No, although I found complaints from other people about ASUS boards in my search.... the board is an ABit KN8 Sli. Solved the problem though.... seems that Vista would install fine from the desktop and recognise the drive, just wouldn't install when booting from CD.... did all kinds of strange things.... damaged the XP install that I was going to erase, and most alarmingly when I came to test the HDD it said that the partition on the disk was bigger than the actual size of the disk!!!!?!
Anyway, all solved now thankfully, but quite worrying nonetheless.
No you have the option to install 'your own' driver if you have one if not do not press 'browse' if new install (new HDD) Just click on the HDD and hit next if reinstall/upgrade hit 'devices' then format or delete then next.
And those 'large' partitions are Microsofts Data base it's not located on you comp.
