ok, someone explain to a really stupid person the following...

i thought that the R600 was Amd/ati's answer to the 8800...

it's more than a little late, so it better really kick it's ass...

but people have been posting shit about the 2900xt?

wtf is the R600 the chip, and 2900xt the name of the card?

is G80 the chip on the 8800?

i'm so fucking consfused...

please, any info you can give would be tight. i'll check my email to see if someone gives a reply, thanks before hand, u guys kick ass,

R600 is the development code name of the chipset on the 2900 cards.

You are correct, and G84 is the 8600 and 8500.

R600 is the name given to the series of cards which the 2900 XT is a part of.
