I've been researching VPN's, and I was wondering hoe to set one up without expensive hardware. The VPN will be used to connect less than 4 people to the network at work. I would like to be able to let them acsess the network from anywhere in the country. I've seen OmniVPN, but I was wondering about any software alternitives. Would I also need any specific harware to use software vpn, or would the plain old router/switch be just fine?

Software VPN is actually built into many Microsoft OSes already (hope your not a linux buff)... And no if you are using a software VPN then you shouldn't need any special hardware as the software would control the VPN... If you are running XP go to network connection, create new connections and then follow your nose...
