i use the p5w-dh in raid 10/0 it is kick az stablity in raid 10/0 run xp in raid 10 and vista rc-1 in raid 0

get vista - vista rocks and works great - xp media edition is buggy. most of the vista bugs are gone.

silverstone strider 750 is so much better - its far more effecint and reliable

patriot 4-4-4-12 ddr800 is $125 and G skill D9 chips 4-4-4-12 ddr 800 is $159 at the egg - there is also G skill same rating for less but not as good of chips - i believe?

lot of good deals on memory - i used ocz alot last year - it suxs.

note: on the 900 cut the case run the psu lines out the back - cut 3 holes top, middle along the outside edge of the mother board plate.

it does not oc well at all, usually will not run higher but will run lower - at these prices i would not tocuh it. last year with rebates the 4-5-4-15 ddr800 was a good deal at under $200. But now, there is much better stuff for less - muskin 4-4-3-10 - killer d9 memory is $189 after rebate.

also mention kingston 4-4-4-12 750 at $139 is sweet too! skip the ocz

That'll pretty much kick the sh(t out of anything you throw at it. Not sure about xp media edition, but I've never used it, and I'd add that any version of XP is probably a better choice than vista right now.

Might not be the cheapest sytem/best bang fer your buck but I'm sure someone will be along to tell you about a possible AMD based system that may offer same-ish performance for less (but if you O/c the e6600, I doubt many AMD systems could touch it just yet).

I think if you move a few things around and make a few changes you will have everything you need!

This is not a TV tuner card - hdtv out means that the card supports resolutions of 1368x720 (720p) or possibly 1920x1080 (1080p) . . . You could save $160-$170 here if all you are interested in is *nothing intense* gaming

Not a bad card but you can get a Auzentech XMYSTIQUE7.1 sound card for the same price complete with Dolby Digital hardware decoding OR a pass-thru by SPDIF coax or optical toslink to a surround sound receiver.

Could you go for a Asus P5B here ? Could save $70-$80 bucks . . .

With The $$$ you saved I'd buy a Fusion5RT Gold ATSC (digiital) / NTSC (analog) PCI tv tuner card for $150 and *PVR* HDTV to your hearts' content (or your hard drive capacity allows!).

And THEN I'd probably drop that NEC and find a Westy 37-inch LCD 720p flat panel hd monitor - you can normally catch them on sale for around $800 at least once a month . . .

:) Of course you would have to add a wireless keyboard - and maybe an $80 omnidirectional amplified antenna from Radio Shack for the FREE HD you will be recording from over the air . . .
