Why wont recent driver releases work on my system?
Windows XP SP2
BFG 6600GT AGP running at 4x
I was running on drivers that were about 2 years old for this very reason. Every updated driver I try I get artifacts and all bunch of crazy crap happens.
I uninstalled my drivers from add/remove in the control panel. Restarted and then installed the drivers. What am I doing wrong? And what can I do to fix this?
62 views and not one reply? Way to go IDAHO. Ho? No, U-DA-HO. Well took me about a week of googling and I think I solved my problem in case anyone else is having a similar issue. Something like this should be made a sticky somewhere.
I uninstalled my video drivers via add/remove in the control panel. Then installed 84.21 drivers from nvidia's driver archive. I read that they are the most stable with a 6600GT and they aren't bloated with all the SLI stuff that I don't need.
Now this is what fixed the artifacting and polygon shapes. (At least in my case)
Right click on desktop
Properties>Settings tab>Advanced>Troubleshoot
And then uncheck write combine
Restart computer
So far so good. I have yet to have any issues or even any significant drop in frame rates.
