I have a lan file server, and i saw in vista the computer show and sometime it doesn't show. Why ?

Maybe you could supply some more detail about exactly what kind of NFS you have and what exactly is not happening.

For instance: I have a NAS comprised of a Linksys WRT-350N and a WD-500GB My Book storage drive. Since starting to use vista I am not able to access the NAS unless I MAP the drive. I am no longer able to stream my media files from the NAS to the Vista machine. It happens that devices like mine use SaMBa to create shares and the Vista UAC conflicts with the SAMBA version on the WRT-350. It also happens that Vista will not index drives found on the network and will require you to download a FAT plugin for desktop search.

I can see sometimes in vista network my file server ( computer with hard drives shared ) via windows network. I can play my song, xfers some files but after like 30min - 1hrs the computer disappear, i need to restart my compute to see it again ! I had no problem with xp before.

What happens if you MAP the share?
