CPU amd 64 3500 939
GPU evga 8800 gts 320
PSU 500w

Just got the new GPU hoping for better gaming results. Amazing in some games but RTS's like M2TW and SC still low FPS. I ran 3DMark05 and got a 9??? for the GPU but only a 2 for the CPU. Is the system being bottlenecked or could it be voltage?

Also if it comes down to a new MoBo and CPU (AM2) what do you recommend?

Thanks

Yes, the CPU is probably bottlenecking the card. I would get an X2 3600 and overclock it to 2.8-3.0 Ghz, so that should last you until Barcelona chips get released at the end of the year. Or you can go the intel route and basically do the same thing.

I do have 2 gigs of ddr ram on the MSI MoBo!
Iv'e tried OCing it using MSI CoreClock but I don't like it, and I only understand it enough to get it from 2.2 to 2.4. What is a better way and software???

Disable Core Center(!). What variety of K8N do you have?

From within the BIOS you may enter the *Cell Menu* for some decent OC options.

They also have something called DOT or *Dynamic Overclocking Technology*. It's kinda cheezee but will allow you to OC upto 11% relatively painless if you reduce the memory divider. They assign military ranking to the OC levels and make most of the adjustments for you.

If you have the NForce4 mobo you need to find an Opty 165 for that sucka - you could get 2.9-3ghz with a good stepping.

If you have the Neo2 with your 3500+ 'Winnie' you can probably get 2.5-2.6ghz out of it.

edit: couldn't spell realatively rite . . . lol
