I already know that you need a really fast CPU to push them in SLI,but how fast is the question.
I have my FX60 running at 3.1 with 2gig memory @440 mhz 2 3 2 5 1T
I already have 1 8800gtx and play on a 21'' wide screen 1680x1050
I dont think I have what it takes to push 2 of them, but what do you think.
For those of you who think there is no need for 2,I have this to say to you:
PLAY OBLIVION ON MAX

I'd say no.
You're fx-60 @3.1 is still a great processor.
Sure a C2d at high clocks will show an advantage but I'm guessing not enough to matter.

Here is a good review comparing an fx62 to x6800 with 8800gtx sli'd. They tested at higher resolutions which is less cpu limited but still a pertinent review.

I wouldn't worry about SLI at the moment, since you won't notice that much of an improvement compared to the money you're going to spend. I would wait till the 8800 GTX prices go down when R600 is released, and see how it goes from there. You will notice some bottleneck, but it isn't major that it'll prevent you playing games maxed out.

I have a FX60 in a very similar machine to yours. Yes, the FX60 will do fine. Unless a game comes out with extremely intense graphics, I'm not sure you'll get any benefit by going SLI with 8800 GTX cards. I'd be more worried about having a big enough psu the SLI setup then I would worry about the FX60.
