I am having a problem I cannot put a finger on. Well...here's the lowdown. The computer just randomly freezes, no blue screen or anything, just freezes at the current screen. I have to hit the reset button. These are the things that I've tried:

1. Ran Memtest86 - came back with 0 errors
2. Ran Hard Drive Check - passed fine
3. Checked Minidump folder - there are no dump files to analyze
4. Computer is Virus and Spyware Free - ran scans (trust me on this one)
5. Updated Chipset, Graphics, and Network Card Drivers
6. All fans inside the computers are working properly, so no overheating issues
7. Ran Windows sfc/scannow - which checks system files for corruption
8. Nothing to report in the Event Viewer

*** This computer setup has run fine for two years. There has been NO hardware changes since XP PRO was installed. As of late, there hasn't been any major software changes either. System is not overclocked either.

Computer Specs:
Intel P4 Prescott 2.4 GHz
Soyo PE865 Motherboard
512MB Corsair DDR 400
40GB Western Digital Hard Drive
GeForce 4 Ti4200
DVD & CD-RW Drives
Antec Solution Series w/350 watt SmartPower
Running XP Pro

Any ideas???? Or should I bite the bullet and reformat it?

Try running in Safemdode and leave overnight.
If still stable run MSCONFIG and see if any new software has put itself into Startup.

worth a shot ....
