I have an E6600 on a Asus P5B Deluxe. The bios is at default settings and when I run CPUZ my bus speed is at 266.67 and my multiplier is at 6 instead of 9. I am only running at 1.6. Is there something wrong or is there a setting I cna change?

lower power cost when your not using the full power of your processor and it can prolong the life of the processor. It's especially helpful if it can be run while the cpu is overclocked.

disable the throttle control in your bios

very little benfit besides locking up your system

lol extend its life? it was last way beyond its usefulness - disable the throttle!
