Im looking for a mobo that can carry a amd64 fx-72 socketF processor, but they dont seem to exist. Why make a processor with a socket size that doesnt even exist. If anyone has proof of an
actual socketF mobo, please reply. a url to mobo specs would be helpful.

The Socket F is not released yet. The FX-72 takes Socket AM2. The processor pins on the back of the cpu have 940 pins, similar to socket 940, but its not socket 940.

The FX-72 is Socket F, NOT socket AM2. The FX-7X line of processors was created to be used in the AMD QuadFX motherboard. These motherboards were/are meant to run 2 FX-70 or higher processors and challenge the Core 2 Duo, but essentially ended up being a pretty big joke. The only motherboard that's ever actually been produced to my knowledge is one from Asus:

I'm not sure why Newegg lists it as Socket L, it's socket F. I've never heard if you can actually run one of these processors by itself in a single Socket F motherboard, which, even if it's possible, you're only looking at server motherboards then, anyway.

This is the infamous Quad FX system. Newegg calls it Socket L for the desktop, but it's the same as a server Socket F. Actually, according to AMD (I looked it up), that is "socket 1207FX". It just happens that everybody knows it's Socket F from the servers. Supposedly you can put a Socket F Opteron in this board (or is that put the FX-72 in a server board?), but I don't know anyone who's tried it. The FX-72 is most definitely NOT a socket AM2 part. Here's the board that takes the FX-7x series. Note that building a system with these is currently a colossal waste of money and heat, but suit yourself. The X2 6000+ is a way better value than the FX-7x series.

By the way, here's about thirty server class boards with Socket F;
