i recently upgraded to an opteron-dual core 175 -2.2ghz.the motherboard i am using is an asus -A8NE.nvidia nforce4 ultra.i have 3 gb of ram-1gb(512x2)of transcend and 2gb(1gbx2) of corsair valueselect ram.2 harddrives -seagate 120gb pata and a samsung 80gb pata and a xfx geforce 6600gt 256mb card.
the problem i faced is- i am currently using bios version 1011-which does seem a bit patchy overall while using this cpu-the fact that the toledo core opteron i have is much newer and asus only added cpu support from bios version 1010 for it.the latest bios v.1013 doesnt let the pc boot itself from the harddrives -it needs a windows cd to boot up.i went to the asus service center and they couldnt get 1013 working on my motherboard.
i am going to overclock the opteron and play loads of games.budget isnt an issue --as it is 939 mobos are dirt cheap now.
i would like to change the motherboard to something which natively supports my 939 opteron or is proven to give good performance with the dual core opteron.
