This is my first try at RAID; it's not going so well.

I'm trying to set up RAID 1 and then install my old copy of XP Home SP1. I can setup the RAID config easily but XP doesn't see any drives. This means I need to install the RAID drivers.

The problem is that the Gigabyte manual instructs me to copy the RAID drivers from the CD to a floppy disk so that I can access them during the XP install. I don't have a floppy drive and my DVD drive will have to hold the XP installation disc.

So, the question is, how do I install the RAID drivers during the OS install without a floppy drive?

Setup:
E6420
Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 Rev 1.3
Two 320 Gb SATA II drives
DVD-RW

thanks

Flash drive won't work with Windows XP setup. Only Vista can use USB/CD-ROM for drivers. XP must use a floppy.

You'll need to either get a floppy drive (About $10 anywhere), or you can make a custom Windows XP installation CD using nLite and embed the RAID drivers into the custom installation CD. This avoids having to load drivers during Windows XP setup at all. Plus, you can slipstream SP2 into the CD while you're at it.
