Hi I would like to upgrade from my ati x1800xt to either a 7950x2 or 2 x1900xtx in crossfire. My motherboard is crossfire capable, but the 7950 x2 would save me a $100. I dont know if their is a big performance difference between the cards and if the 7950x2 would give me problems due to the fact my board has an ATi chip set. Im looking at these cards because their in my price range.

Thanks

No, Don't buy either.
Get a 8800GTS 320MB/640 MB/GTX instead of X1900XTX CF/7950GX2...
if you can afford two X1900XTX you should probably get a 8800GTX, Much better!
by the way, you have another option that is wait a few weeks for ATI's X2900XT to come but if you can't wait i recommend a 8800Series video card.
just as i always said make sure that your power supply can handle the new graphic card that you want to buy!
Good Luck! 8)

I would get an fx5200 in pci.
I think I have an ATI Rage floating around here somewhere I might be convinced to part with...

Throw in an LPT + COM port ISA card and i'll take it off your hands

To the OP : just buy the cheapest 8800GTS

sif, the 9200SE pwns it in DX8.1 and only noobs use DX9

My motherboard is crossfire capable

I'd assume this is why he's not looking at the G80 cards, he want's a dual GPU setup (hence the 7950GX2 option).

Let me say to you my friend that your better off getting a single 8800GTX or even 8800GTS rather than two X1950XTX's in most situations.

A single 8800GTX will outperform either pair.

IF AMD+ATI decide to release HD2900XT this year the 8800GTS would be easier to stomach (at about 270$), the GTX on the other hand is twice that.

As you're thinking about spending over 540$ for two 1900XTX cards and the HD2900XT is expected to cost around 400$ you could buy one of those in and another in 2-3 months after the price settles down.

I will pass my final judgement on HD2900's when the NDA is lifted and I can buy one. DT benches are nice but it's alot like the Loch Ness monster.

Why is it so unbelievable? Someone told me he's seen the LochNess monster (effectionately know as Nessy) I believe youve heard of him too... his name is bigfoot

as long as it's HEARSAY ... can come from the man in the moon, DT, or Intel for that matter ...

HD2900XT shows promisse, might be worth the wait
(not that there was a reason to upgrade to DX10 capable cards for now)

I just don't like counting my chickens before they hatch (rotten egg smell from a thermal powerplant is common where I live).
