Hey there:

I just got my XFX 8600 GT xxx . The only game I tried is "FEAR" and it was ok with the highest configirations with 1024* 768
But I still think that my old ATI 1900GT is better than the new one and I feel like I had done a mstake here .
maybe I had to wait till the new AMD vedio cards
What do you think

Not being funny mate but i think you have made a mistake as well, the 8600GT has been a disappointment to most in the gaming world because we expected a lot more for the money in this mod range sector.

Me personally expected 256 bit memory as well but maybe that was just me. I think you should try and take it back if you can and stick with your 1900GT for now while you save for a better card.

Sorry to say, but the GF8600 series isn't very good compared to an X1900 (or even a GF7600GT). I would wait for the new ATI cards or save up for an 8800GTS.

I second the idea, bring the card back for a refund if you can. save up like 250$ for a 8800gts 320mb, you will be amaze by the performance.

what they said, the 8600 series cards are a huge disappointment, the 8800gts 320mb is a much better deal at $270ish. The upcoming ati cards are looking pretty juicy so id hold out for those. Either way you cant go wrong, but yeah the 8600 is a waste of money

I have the xfx 8600GT xxx too and all i have to say is :-( for gaming at stock speed, but i figure out that this card is the best on the market the HD playback cpu utilization, go download a pure hd video and check your cpu usage you will be suprise, its better then a 8800 gtx for HD playing. All you need to do for gaming is overclocking the card, 710mhz core and 850mhz memory, wich the temperature is still low at those clock speed, this overclock gain enought power to be a 8600GTS. If you consider the price tag, HD Video decode power, and overclocking to a gts this card is pretty good.

Save up, once a while, you'll see a 8800GTS 320MB going for $219 after rebate, it's on NewEgg. But they run out of stock really fast, so observe, camp NewEgg and you should be able to get it.

8600GT is going for $119 after rebate from Circuit City. But still, it can't beat the $75 7600GT I bought a week ago.

I don't know what are you talking about but the 8600GT beat the 7600GT, i had a 7600GT before i got a 8600gt. And i oc my 8600gt to beat the 7900gs.

Ok, my tech level isn't very high and this is probably a moot point since the OP intends to use the graphics card for gaming, but has anyone seen this: http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2977
Maybe the 8600 isn't so worthless.

The 8600 shine when it come to HD video

Iam not sure why are you people that much disappointed with this card.
I could play fear at the max setting at the max resolution ( 1280*1024) without any problem !

Now , I don't know how it will performe with the new Dx10 games , but I think it will be enough for 17" monitor or even 19" . ( I not looking for very high end res)

8600GT is better than 7600GT, but the price difference ain't gonna justify that minor advantage it has.

The benchmark I looked at compared 7600GT vs 8600GT, and 8600GT beat 7600GT on 6 occasions out of 9 tests, and not by far.
