Hi
Can anyone recommend a good external hard drive for an economical price?

I do not need a lot of storage. I do have 2 computers so the ethernet gigabit drives seem appealing but not sure I want to spend the extra money.

I read about some problems with the Western Digital Passport drives.

Do you think there is a lot of difference between the different drives or just look for size and a good price.

One good way to save money is to buy an external enclosure (should have its own power supply) and a HDD separately, then plug one into the other and go.

Thanks - do you know of a good external hard drive case that has ethernet gigabit functions?

Most of the cheap cases use USB2, not sure I know of one using ethernet.
Newegg has some, I got one at Otherworld computing

hi, i use a galactic meatal gear case, mostly because i swap out the drive and use it for my burner(thats why i got the one that has the openable fromt ) it looks nice with the blue light on th sides, just the only caviar with it is that its not made entirely out of metal, the sides all around are, but the top and bottom are not(its plastic painted to look like its metalic), but so far i have not had a single issue with it, and have been using it since mid december 06
