First time building a rig, help

Hello,

I was just wondering if this setup would work well. I've never built a computer myself and was wondering if i should try it, or just go to one of the pre-made manufacturers? I would like some feedback on this setup any tips/advice appreciated.

Here is the build i was thinking of:

Case: Corsair Carbide Series 500R ATX Mid Tower
CPU: AMD FX-8120 Zambezi 3.1 GHz
MOBO: Asus M5A99X EVO AM3+ AMD 990X
RAM: Kingston HyperX 16GB DDR3 SDRAM 1600
GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 6850 1GB
PSU: CORSAIR GS600 600W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS
HDD: Seagate 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s
OD: ASUS SATA Internal Blu-ray

personally my choice would be to go with an i7 based processor and a nvidia card but to each their own i suppose.

you might want to think about throwing in a small ssd for a boot drive and to load one or two games on for very snappy response.

In my opinion to ,is better with 2500k and a Z68 mobo.
If the PC is for gaming buy 8GB RAM not 16 and buy a 6870 or 560Ti.
