Hal.dll is corrupt or missing, how do i reinstall? I had windows media center, but the laptop never came with a cd for it, i just have an xp home disc. how can i reinstall hal.dll? please somebody, ive tried things from websites but to no avail. how can i make media centre work again? ive no idea how to use the recovery console. please i beg! somebody help me please ;;

Look Dave, I can see you're really upset about this. I honestly think you ought to sit down calmly, take a stress pill, and think things over.

You can download it from here
Copy it onto a CD or somewhere easy to find on the HDD. The go into recovery mode and through just copy the file to the system32 directory.

i actually got it fixed by accident in the recovery console lol, using fixboot or something. thanks anyway =D
