Hi I'm building a new rig and and looking for RAM. I've narrowed it to these (because they're all on sale for under $110 shipped)

2GB DDR2 PC2-6400 DUAL CHANNEL KIT / (2X1GB) / OCZ / VISTA UPGRADE EDITION

Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-6400 800MHz 240-pin DDR2 Memory - 112438

Corsair TWIN2X2048-5400C4 2GB DDR2-675 XMS2-5400 Xtreme Performance Memory w/Black Heat Spreader Retail

any thoughts or comments would be appreciated..thanks

Oh and as far as other components that I've bought for this new computer:
Processor - AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor 3800+
Video Card - SAPPHIRE Radeon X1950GT
PSU - Antec NeoHE 550W

Motherboard -*still looking* (but maybe a GIGABYTE GA-M55SLI-S4)

Im not sure why u want an Athlon 64 X2, or how to overclock one of those oldies but u have to buy the RAM that fits best with the overclock u want. If u want to overclock the FSB to 400-500Mhz, then buy DDR2-800, etc.

Looks like they are doing a budget, maybe a second PC, and do not need the best of everything.

If you want to OC, then Track has a point. Pick the RAM that will do what you want it to do.

If you are not OC'ing and just want advice, I have used Crucial/OCZ and had to have RAM returned to both. OCZ customer service is a pain to get in contact with, after that you are OK. Crucial isn't a problem to contact and both were very good at their RMA process and returning my RAM faster than I sent it to them. Both returned new RAM sticks with 2day delivery.

Corsair, haven't used them, yet, may or may not. Haven't heard anything about them.

If you are just doing a purely budget PC no OC, then go with the cheapest of the 3. If you want to OC, get the RAM that will work best with how much you want to OC.

Of the ram you list, I'd choose the OCZ. The Corsair you list is not the proper speed for getting the best from AMD cpu's. You need DDR2-800/ PC2-6400 speed for them. I choose OCZ over Crucial mainly because I have used OCZ with success while I have no experience with Crucial.

I'd go with the Crucial. Have nothing bad to say of the other two, but only good things to say about Crucial - have been using tons of these in the past few years, both for professional and personal usage, and have never had any problems with them.
