Space saving is not a major concern of mine, so getting a tube tv doesn't
bother me at all. I was considering projection HDTV's because of their low
price, however I don't think I like the lack of sharpness and not being able
to view it clearly from all angles like a tube.
The salesman suggested the Projection LCD TV but I also was a bit concerned
at its sharpness.
Can anyone please advise me? I like the sonys but they are a bit more pricy
than many other brands... I don't have the money for Plasma.

This might be an issue if the TV is being placed in a crowded
bar room, but if it's for home use, I like the biggest screen
affordable.
My 55 inch RPTV is sitting in a corner of the family room.
We have a couch and a loveseat that seat 5 people total.
The TV can be seen clearly from every seat in the house.
Since people usually watch tv sitting down in their seats,
it doesn't matter much that if they walked off to the
side of the tv, they couldn't see the picture well.

I like door number 3 due to the cablecard slot and the over the air
and cable tuners. No set top box improves the picture.
The KD34XS955 is a similar set, but slightly more expensive.

I'll never buy a tube tv again. They weigh a ton and really aren't that
big. I'd take projection LCD over a tube any day. However, I'd take DLP
over projection LCD. You never have to worry about convergence of the
colors and there is less screen door effect. Have you ever seen them?
There is a 50" Optoma model with great picture that meets your price
requirements at Costco:
Just wanted to throw out DLP as an alternative in case you hadn't seen them
before. One other nice thing is that they're not very heavy. That 50"
Optoma weighs only 90 lbs!

Personally, I find the uneven brightness of RPTVs (the "hot spot" in
the center that moves as you do) intolerable. Yes, my tube TV (Sony
34XBR960) weighs one-tenth ton, but the picture is gorgeous. I would
guess that Sony's HS series look pretty darn good too.
