Hey. During Christmas break i moved my computer back to my home DSL network. When i moved back to my college i couldn't connect to the internet, AIM, etc. but it didn't say i had a cable unplugged or anything. i uninstalled my NIC drivers and reinstalled them....problem still existed. the light on my NIC card lights up so i know my cable isn't the problem. when i scanned the network it said "DHCPserver = 255.255.255.255(invalid IP address)" and there aren't any other errors or anything. anyone know how i can fix this? thanks a lot

have you tried releasing then renewing your ipconfig? open an ms-dos window and type "ipconfig /release" and the "ipconfig /renew" see if that helps

yeah, when i do ipconfig /release it shows my autoconfigured IP address (169.254.193.252) and my subnet mask (255.255.0.0). it doesn't show my default gateway. then i type in ipconfig /renew and the curser just blinks for a while then tells me it's unable to contact my DHCP server.

Could you do an ipconfig /all and post the data, also a route print wouldn;t go astray...

You can redirect the outputs by putting a > after the command

eg ipconfig /all > myfile.txt
will display nothing on the screen but it will write a file instead called myfile.txt...
