Looking for some opinions on backup/image software for baremetal restores. I've been looking at such programs as Ghost and True Image, but I'd like the option of creating a dvd with my base system build and these two seem to only use external HD, which is good, but would still like to have a optical media solution as well. Any comments?

Thanks for your input.

keeping backup on dvd is not a good idea ;)

best way if you are serious about backup is this:

clone your current drive to a second hdd. use acronis true image its the best for the job.

it will allow you to backup on anything you like ;) however as I said dvd is not a good idea.

for one thing you gonna need more then one dvd to backup to;)

Thanks for the input, I'm not actually doing any data backups using this method. Was actually just thinking of the system partition, and being able to put the dvd's in the library.

I'm talking about backing up your operating system. you data files(music,DVD, pic and etc.) you can backup with anything.
