Computer starts to bios screen

Hello When I turn on my computer, it does the bios check, then goes into the bios screen on its own. I have checked all of the bios settings, and see nothing set wrong. The only way I can get itno my xp pro system, is to use "F8" during the bios check, the select my hd from there, then it seems only half of my programs work, and it also seems to be randomly changing the programs that do not work, when I do this. Any suggestions?
I also have Disconnected my 2 burners and tried to restart, and that did not make a difference either. MY hd is sata and the drives are ide, no floppy installed

Have you tried doing a Windows Repair using the Windows CD? Unfortunately, sounds like it's time for a clean install of Windows. While definitely a pain it's probably quicker and easier than trying to figure out/solve the problem.
