some of you may remember my prediction that there would be an OFP 1.5 some
time ago. Obviously I didn't know about the CM clanger, but I believe that
AA is the game that I had heard about behind the scenes.....
better late than never..........

Let's see - we don't actually HAVE a firm date yet do we? Has the RRP been
set?

What's RRP?

Had a glance at the forums last night and they still don't seem to have a
publisher yet. I think once they get the XBox version shipping, there might
be some action on the PC front; they may be holding back so as not to affect
console sales. Ideally, once the XBox version is out the door, we'll get
some in game movies and maybe even a demo like we did for CWC.

So...does that mean they redid the original campaigns/missions with the new
engine?
I recently got a new machine and reinstalled the game, but find myself
somewhat bored with the campaign (I've played them so many times)...am I
gonna get more satisfaction out of AA replaying those, or are they gonna be
"same old, same old"? I'd still love to play the missions I'm familiar with
if they're using the new engine...

Well, the game will come with a new campaign and I would expect a handful of
single player missions. Maybe four or five multiplayer missions of which one
or two will be co-ops, a capture the flag, a deathmatch and potentially
something nice and new like TKOTH.
Even when there wasn't a discernable community as such when OFP1 was
released, there were still plenty of missions. The BAS addons are nice, but
I'm not bothered about them - the best enjoyment comes from the mission
creation and playing, and some good scripting!
I understand that the scripting language is AS-IS, but has been extended to
allow greater control.
The graphical and physics engines look to be improved.

Yes. That's stated in the article I posted with the link. AA will have
all
three of the original campaigns (CWC, RH, and RES) plus a brand new
campaign
on a much bigger island.
And, there are a lot of enhancements--as mentioned in the aritcle.

B.I. had no publisher for OFP1 for months after I could see from 6 measly
screen-shots that it was going to be the next great tactical shooter.
I wouldn't worry about that, either. Someone out there wants to make money.
I wouldn't mind just downloading it from the 'net.
And CafePress will burn and label CD's for you and allow you to set the
price on the product. CafePress could be their publishers, if "pressed".

I'd imagine they have a publisher but aren't announcing anything until the
XBox version is selling; once that's out the door, I think (well, hope) info
and media will appear pretty rapidly. As long as they don't do a 'Steam', I
won't mind!

Hi Uzi,
Publishing is not just about printing and labelling CD's. It involves hefty
negotation with other distributors, press releases and marketing - things
software houses aren't typically able to cope with.
I'm sure off the basis of the original, AA will be a hit with any publisher
they happen to have. Maybe Vivendi? They seem to be getting a lot of the FPS
business these days.
