Has anyone used PC based GPS systems?

I am considering buying a PC based GPS program(Garmin 10) to use while traveling in conjuction with my laptop. Has anyone used one or have reasons not to use a laptop based system? I use my laptop while I am traveling most of the time anyway so I have no problem going to the trouble to get my laptop up and going in the car. Thx

a friend of mine had Iguide, he liked its interface, however when we were driving around he would lose his gps here and there or the maps did not have the address in it.

in short I found places faster by looking at my ADC maps then he did with his gps.

keep in mind this was a couple of years ago and I don't have one myself.
