hi, i have win xp pro. i have a big file almost 3 gigs which i am trying to upload to my ftp site. but they don't allow files more than a gig in size. is there any program i can use that will break that file into smaller chunks?
I use WinRAR for this purpose. It lets you break the file into chunks for a floppy, Zip100, CD, DVD, or manually set the chunk size. After installing WinRAR right-click the file, select the "Add to archive..." option. On the dialog that pops up there is a "Split to volumes, bytes" drop-down menu. You can either click the drop-down menu for the common sizes or just type in a custom size (remember the size is in bytes).
