Hello... is there a software suite that allows me to wipe the "empty" (but not technically empty) areas of the disks, while allowing me to keep the other data intact?
If I understood you correctly, you want to wipe the data that is marked as deleted, right? That's that one that you deleted by pressing del in your file manager but unsure whether it was overwritten with new data. If so, there's practically a lot of tools here that wipe out the free disk space while leaving the used disk space intact, such as BCWipe http://www.jetico.com/bcwipe.htm, QuickWiper http://www.aks-labs.com/solutions/ [...] -space.htm, R-Wipe http://www.r-wipe.com/Disk_Cleaning_Download.shtml and so on. Which is better? Dunno, probably the one that is smaller or the one you trust better because you've hear about it somewhere else.
this is all BS, the only way to make sure the data you want to delete is gone is to destroy the hdd.
all this BS about window washer, quick wipe and etc., is all a gimmick, how do you think the government gets data off of computers? you can format a drive and the data is still recoverable.
the only other way is to defrag everyday
but don't take my word for it format or use these supposed cleaners then run easy recovery pro or CIA unerase or if you have a friend in any govt agency that do this kind of stuff ask them
