What causes system freeze in boot up. It won't boot up.
I've tried two different drives and it freezes or locks up during boot up on either one.

You need to be a little more specific. Can you get to the bios? Or does the system not power up at all.

If you have an ATi GPU using Catalyst 7.3, you might freeze up to a blank screen during boot when its attempting to load the ATi programs.

Upgrade to 7.4 to fix that....if it is a GPU issue.

Well now it locks up in boot up. I can't even get to the bios screen. I've tried it on two different hard drives.

Before I could sometime get loaded on the XP drive and browse the internet and such for a while before it would lock up, but now I can't even boot to safe mode or the bios screen. It starts to load and then freazes.
I'm thinking of taking it to the Geek Squad.

If it freezes during bootup on different drivers, then it sounds like a hardware problem. Typically, this could be:

- RAM error
- Inadequate power
- Overheating CPU
