Buy.com has Crucial Ballistix 2x1GB PC6400 DDR-2 800mhz BL2KIT12864AA804 on sale for 139.99 and then a $40.00 rebate, final price of $99.99 if I get the buy.com credit card, they will take off an additional $30 for a final price of $69.00 Pretty good I think for 2 gigs of ram.
I plan on buying an ASUS motherboard. P5B Deluxe or P5B-E. Since I will not be overclocking I will only need 533mhz ram. Can I set this memory down to 533mhz from 800mhz and keep timings to 4-4-4-12 without any problems or should I find better ram? Also the default voltage setting for this ram is 2.2 volts. Can I run this at 1.8 volts and maintain stability? Is this over buying?

If you don't want to overclock, buy only RAM spec'd at 1.8V. 2.2V is overclocking the RAM (a manufacturer-sanctioned overclock in this case).

I bought this ram the other day, great price and I used Google checkout to get an extra $10 off so it was $90 AR. I used the Visa credit to lower the price of my power supply to $120.
Be warned though, I applied for this credit card back when the 7900 GTO was out and the email reply I got was that I would be notified within 30 days if I was approved or not and would then be able to take advantage of the $30 off. Needless to say I ended up getting my GTO elsewhere.
