XP x32 vs x64

When building a new computer for gaming, what XP version is most satisfactory? the 32 bit or the 64 bit version? Are the advantages of the 64 bit version going to out weigh the cons of driver and app support?

What specific apps are not compatible (or take a performance hit) with XP x64?

I think its more like what apps really do work with vista

Few XP64 bit app take a performance hit, but then again few gain much in performance either. Then, there is that whole issue of finding that purchasing X64 apps are much more expensive and there are still quite a few apps that are not XP64 compatible. Little to gain with the OS difference. Vista may show a better 64 vs. 32 bit gain in the next year or so.
