Anyone know what exactly is the difference between this and a regular PSU?

From what I gather, 'Modular' means you can attach and detach what you need as you need them.

This would be a great hassle dealer and make the case that much more organized, but if that is the deal, than how is it accomplished?

All I really need is 4 Sata Power connectors and one PCI-EX16 connector for my HD/DVD and Vid card, and I'm set.

Thanks :)

Yes, the cables are detachable and you only need to attach enough to accomplish your connections. It's great for neatness and airflow.

You are correct mate, the only leads that are hard wired to the unit are those for the mobo as for the rest you only have to connect what you need, speaking of which, do you really NEED 700w I ask this because the PSU you link to is pretty close to this one :- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6817139002 which from what I can gather is a re-badged Seasonic M12 but is cheaper to begin with and comes with a five year warranty as opposed to the Seasonics three year offering.

Heya,

Thanks for the info :). I assume that they have the 24Pin connector already attached, the 4 Pin Power already attached, and the rest are just 'dead ends' so to speak, and that is attached to the proper modules? Sort of like hooking up extra extension cords for Christmas lights....

Nope, I didn't even look at the power wattage. New egg gave me an option for 600-700, and I just assumed it was 700 :). I'll probably be getting the 600 version, heh. All I'll have in the machine is an EVGA NVidia 256MB PCIX16 card, a Fusion HDTV PCIX1, and a Omega Sound card. Plus Two Hard Drives, and Two DVD Drives..
