Does vista require powerful PCI-express at leat 512MB ? It seems vista is graphic intensive.
No man, just about any thing will run. I haven't tried an old vga card though. If you want aero you'll need a graphics card that will at least run directx 9 (whatever is in sp2 and i think 64M) also with the older cards, your experience index may be a little low; but most anything should work.

Of course it doesn't require a GeForce 8800 GTX, but it sure is sweet! If you already have a decent card, then just use what you got. But if you're getting a new computer or looking to upgrade big and can have the opportunity to grab a 8800 GTX, i'd get it. I haven't tried SLI yet, but the 8800 GTX is simply awesome.

I want nothing but the best.

I haven't had any problems so far. Every game I play seems to have better results than any other player who has Windows XP or Vista. (for instance, the /perf mode in Supreme Commander seems to be higher than any other person who compared results with me, and usually they're using XP)

thanks for the info guys.

Does Vista recognize Soundmax audio on Asus motherboard? I was told by my friend that Vista doesn't bother to list soundmax in its driver list.

I know in my case, Vista didn't recognize my Creative SB X-Fi XtremeGamer. So all I had to do was go to the Creative website and download the drivers and voila! It works great. :D

Asus has a whole bunch of drivers for Vista out. My ASUS mobo sound drivers were available when I installed Vista, but it took me like 3 weeks to find the Windows settings that made them work...

So, you should be able to find ASUS drivers, even for X64.

And yea, everything will run Vista... My Radeon 9800 Pro AGP (With like, 128 megs of videoram and 768 megs of DDR1 333 Ram) ran Aero pretty smoothly. The CPU clock widgit, however, was having a field day jammed up against 100 percent most of the time.

Then you will be sorely disappointed with nVidia's performance under Vista. Not exactly "the best" by any stretch of the imagination.

I think that's mainly the 8800 series. I have a 7900GT and it runs marginally better under Vista 32 than it did under XP.

No.

In fact, people run Vista, with Aero, on X1300s.

If you want to play games, then you need a better video card, not the best, but good.
