Im going RAID 0 with two of these babies shortly. Check the THG article.

SATA has been the new "standard" for about 2 years now.

oh my goodness! i need to throw out all my PATA disks. here i was thinking they were the best!
and i also need to fix the disks perpendicularly you say?... but my cage only lets me mount them horizontally!

Mine are vertical storage on a horizontal perpendicular trisecting tangent line to the mean angle difference to the north pole! :D

Is there a sharp version?

I store all my data on battery backed up RAM. DDR21066 and I have 500GB of it. Magnetic storage on rotating platters is for noobs.

Have you tried rotating the cage 90 degrees about it's horizontal axis? I'm sure the performance benefit from having them perpendicular will be worth the effort

Guys, he's talking about the data being perpendicular on the drive's platter—you have to use a magnet to make your data stand up.

Platters? I don't own any serving dishes, and my case certainly isn't big enough to accommodate one.
May 4, 2007 3:14:26 PM

What do you mean your case isn't big enough. Last time I checked computers were about the size of a room.
May 4, 2007 3:33:09 PM

people in the circus use a whip and a chair to make their data perpendicular. 8)

Sorry but that's totally false. The data turns perpendicular just by asking politely.
Please read HDD news before posting crap like that again...

i used a magnet from work and nothing much is happening... not even booting!
should i use a stronger magnet? :p
May 4, 2007 4:21:32 PM

Well that's just great! Now what am I going to do with my 5.25" floppy drives???

You should hold a couple of hot leads to your drive and try to jump start it, at the very least it will shock those bits into standing at attention instead of just laying around. Lazy bastards.
May 4, 2007 4:35:38 PM

Don't question Opterondo. You can tell from his avatar that he knows his stuff. As for me... I just ordered 17 SATA drives utilizing perpendicular storage technology... I'll have one for every day of the week... spares for each of those and three others just lying around because I enjoy clutter and I like the number three.

We know Grandpa.

Wasn't that from the cartoon, Cow & Chicken? That was one of the funniest cartoons, especially liked the devil character.

Did you use the north or south end of the magnet?

Is one stronger :?:

I overdrive my Raptor HD's by setting a Neodymium magnet atop each drive... Also instantly decreases chances of somebody stealing designs off the drive if the PC is stolen...

May 5, 2007 6:20:46 AM

I think you'll find that's Vertical storage.

This is Perpendicular storage:
