I have a E6420 on a GA-965p-DS3 rev3.3 Bios f11b
All volts normal 400fsb 8xmult for 3.2 in sync with ddr2 800 4-4-4-12
pass memtest 12hr pass orthos 12h
max core temps i see is 58c-60c with orthos small FFTs cpu stress test this is with the stock hsf
this is my first OC pc and just wanted to know if this temp is ok or should I upgrade the hsf
Thanks fryfreek

little high

1) too little cpu grease - therma compound
2) hsf not tighe enough check posts

3) poor case cooling

you need 4 x 80mm or 2 x 120mm fans - in/out - plus a door fan and slot cooler - do u have those?

stock fan is fine and your temps are not bad but a little high even if the room is 90 f!

whats the room temp? makes a big difference!

---------------------

if air flow is the problem then a better hsf make not help that much
------------------

also air flow orientation or AFO -- is something sucking all the air from the cooler?

if your room is 70f then you way high if its 95 f then your ok!

I'd say that isn't too bad for stock HSF, with a 3.2ghz OC.

If those are core temp readings or from TAT, it seems to be in the save zone off that guide:

--55--/--70--70-- Warm
--50--/--65--65-- N
--45--/--60--60-- O
--40--/--55--55-- R
--35--/--50--50-- M
--30--/--45--45-- A
--25--/--40--40-- L
--20--/--35--35-- Cool

I say that is pretty good for a stock cooler. Have you used TAT and hit 100%? see what it gives you then. What is giving you the 60C if it is the mobo sensor telling you this then its a bit HOT if its TAT or from the T junctions then its good.
