Can RAID be installed on any machine ?

I just bought a Dimension 8400. When I Installed window XP Professional it didnt ask me If I want to setup raid.

Can I install RAID 1 on this machine. I downloaded the INTEL RAID Application acclerator but when I click I do NOT get an option to set RAID. In the Bios I did set the RAID to AUTODETECT RAID AHCI.
I did try to hit PF6 when I installed windowsXP I didnt get the RAID setup window I just got do you want to format the drive window.

I heard a while back it may depend if your motherboard is RAID compatible.

If this can be done how do I do it or what do I need as far as hardware goes ?

You need to set it up with F6 before the XP load to install the drivers before it will recognize hardware RAID.

Does the motherboard need anything special installed on it for it to work. ? I'm going to try again now

Motherboard doesn't need anything special... as long as it has a RAID controller (or controller with RAID functionality). If there is no RAID-capable controller available, then you'd be looking at buying an add-in controller.
