Do you guys think that us XP users should still wait on Vista? Does anyone know if theres enough hardware and games supported by Vista, to go ahead and get it now or still wait? If I should still wait, how much longer should I wait? I checked some things online to see if some of the hardware that I have is now supported by Vista. For example, my HP G85 all-in-one printer is supported as well as the Audigy 2 sound card. Btw, Comp Usa stores here in Southern California are going out of business and all the Vistas are 40% off. Should I go ahead and buy it today? One more thing, which version should I get?
also, before you get suckered into compusa's "deal", carefully check prices against newegg, tigerdirect, zipzoomfly... I saw compusa jacking prices real high before discounting. when they closed down one of the stores up here, their prices (after the BIG discount) still sucked.
I don't know if MS still has the deal going but a month ago, if you bought Ultimate retail, you can buy two additional licenses for Premium at $50 each. I think its still on the MS site in one of their upfront Vista pages; you click a few links, give them your cc numbers and they will promptly email you a license that you can use with the same Ultimate dvd (saves $100).
And I totally agree with WW - if the price is right and you've got the funds, do it - you will eventually.
My only warnings were that Nvidia isn't very solid right now (some nvidia users don't have any problems, many do) -- and -- just be careful with CompuUsa's pricing. CompUsa is not the seller - CompUsa is not involved at all - you are buying from a liquidator, at least I did in NorCal...
well the price is right you can always get a copy but hold on to it dont install it.
Games ? very very very few.
If XP is not broke dont fix it i say :?
Well, today I went down there to Compusa and got 2 Vista Ultimates, the upgrade version. One for my comp, and one for the wife. I got the one thats called "Signature Series" You know, the one signed by Bill himself on 25,000 of them. LOL. Anyway, I got them for 50% off instead of the advertised 40%. The salesman was pretty cool. They had about a dozen left. I may wait to install it until more hardware and software are supported, or I might just see how it does. I will see if I have the time to spend on it just for that or not. One more thing just in case you want to see the prices: Regular price $259. Got them for $129 each. Thanks!
