Hi! I recently bought a Sony HD-Ready TV not knowing for a few more hundreds I could get a much better
HDTV-enabled one. If I buy the Zenith IHDTV1 indoor antenna, would it do me any good?
I mean, would I be able to watch HDTV-enabled shows? Sorry if this is such a stupid question for you here
but I'm just a newbie. TIA to thos who will reply.

I have a Sony HD-ready tv (KV-32HS510) and watch HDTV with no problems
at all. I don't have cable or satellite but get the HD programming OTA
with an outdoor antenna on my roof and the LG LST-4200A STB. Just
because you have an integrated tv (ATSC tuner built-in) doesn't
guarantee you'll get HDTV.

OTA reception can be tricky depending on where you live in relationship
to the transmitting source and what kind of topography you have around
you (tall buildings, trees, hills, etc). Indoor placement of your
antenna is not as good as outdoor (less interference) but some folks
have been lucky.

Cable and satellite will offer you HD programming but of course you'll
be paying a premium for those services.

Most "HD Ready" TVs are merely capable of displaying a signal of HD
resolution. Typically they cannot actually receive it. In order to receive
HD you will need an antenna plus an HD Tuner. If your TV has an integrated
ATSC tuner you won't need the tuner, just the antenna. Based on your
wording though I'm guessing you don't have integrated ATSC tuner. Check
your manual.

Check your area and get the info on the type antenna you will need at
http://www.antennaweb.org/aw/welcome.aspx

Find out how others in your area are doing at:

The Zenith is a pretty good antenna from what I hear. But all depends
on your location, the line of view and the distance from the
transmitters. The quality of your reception will also vary with the
quality of the HD receiver you decide to purchase.

Good luck and enjoy the show.
