Finally building my new pc and I have come across a problem with the case front panel wires for USB and Mic/Headphone wires.

I do not know how to connect these wires to my mobo. The P5 Deluxe has two blue USB connections designated USB56 and USB78 but the remaining wire/connector combinations do not seem to fit any of the board connections.

Both USB connections have a 4 wires, 3 grouped together on one connector and labelled VCC, Data-, Data+ and an additonal single wire labelled -. The speaker/mic combination is one connector with 7 wires.

How do I connected these onto my Asus Mobo - Can anybody shed some light on the problem?

USB 10 pins #9 pin missing
use either set 5/6 or 7/8
pin#1/2 VCC
pin#3/4 data -
pin#5/6 data +
pin #7/8 ground (-)

Looks like the other one goes on the AAFP shown on page 2-33. Should be the HD one, might be the ac97

i have just inserted the mic/speaker into the AAFP connection port as instructed by page 2-33.

just found this on the net

http://www.intel.com/support/mothe [...] 009048.htm

does that mean i just put my two USB wire bundles back to back and stick them in either the USB56 or USB78?

thnx again!

The P5B deluxe should have also come with a connector where you can hook up your USB wires to the connector and then hook the connector with all the wires attached to the motherboard. The connector is labeled with which wire goes where.
