I've looked at many sites and seen both LGA775 and Socket A. I need a mATX motherboard that will accept this processor. In one case someone stated they had bought a Foxcomm 865GV7MV-S LGA 775 for an eMachine similar to my W2785.

Appreciate any help here. Thanks.

XP-2700 CPU's are socket A. Socket A mb's came in 266, 333, and 400mhz flavors. You have a 333mhz CPU.

I have a Athlon 2700+ . Still works like a charm, its Socket A and I have an nVidia nForce 2 board. The system is 4 years old now ( built Spring 2003)

1. Could look at old reviews of AMD boards for the XP processors, and search for a mATX board. I don't remember any, though.
2. I have an older HP computer that came with Windows ME and an Athlon 850 processor, which I suppose is a standard ATX size socket A board. I was thinking of putting it back together to run some old games that don't work in WinXP, but with a better video card and hopefully a newer CPU. I have an old Athlon XP 1800+ lying around. Could I plug that CPU into the old HP motherboard? I suspect it won't recognize the newer XP CPUs without a bios update, which ain't available for this old HP motherboard. Do you have any comments/suggestions?

That's it! 462P. I've seen a couple references to that too. And my original memory is PC2700, 33MHz. Thanks all for contributions!!!
