Too small a PSU for a 7600GT?

I'm running a PNY 7600GT off of my stock Gateway 300 watt PSU... the specs call for a minimum of 300 watts. I've been running it like this since last July and I haven't had any problems per se.

But I'm wondering, if the PSU wasn't giving the card enough juice would my FPS suffer or would it crash whatever I was doing?

If upgrading the PSU will give me more FPS I'd be apt to upgrade it, so let me know what you think.

If your PSU wasn't powerful enough, you'd experience reboots and system crashes, or possibly other weird behavior. There would be no gain in FPS in getting a bigger power supply.
