I bought the Dell 2707 about 6 weeks ago and have been very happy with it (although the first one went bad after a week - Dell was very prompt in replacing it). Yes, you can see the pixels if you're less than a yard away, but the colors are brilliant, display sharp, hardly any bleedthrough since it uses the P-MVA panel from Samsung I believe, no ghosting, dead or stuck pixels or dark corners. If Dell dropped the price to $999 it would be a steal
. Currently Dell has it for $1199 but they run regular discounts so you might check once a week or so.
For gaming, the 27" is awesome - total immersion effect especially with a decent soundcard and 5.1 speakers
. I've been playing some old games like NOLF2 recently and find I can pick off enemies much further away than on my old low-contrast Sony 19" monitor
BTW, the new Dell 30" HC is only $70 more at $1269 - when it first came about about a month ago it was listed at its MSRP of $1699 I believe, same as the HP 3065. However you'll need dual DVI connections to drive it - your 8800GTX should have no trouble with it however. The 24" is currently listed at $569, or about half the 27" - you could buy two of them for about the same price
.
Both the Dell 27" and 30" use the new CCFL backlights for >90% NTSC color gamut, as opposed to ~72% for the old backlights.
I see Newegg as the 275T for $1169 or $30 less than the Dell. Didn't see any built-in memory card reader like the Dell has but I dunno if that is worth $30 extra. Guess it comes down to whether you prefer the black bezel or brushed aluminum.
