Why can't I edit/saved old word documents or pictures on vista platform?

For example, I had some old word document that was saved under office 2003 files. Now, vista doesn't allow me to edit or save it. I have to rename the file as another name in order to save it.

Check your file properties. I think you might have unintentionally set the file to Read Only.

Thanks for your advice. I fix the issue by changing permission of file properties to full control. I had forgotten that the documents were set to read only status. :oops:
