Microsoft claimed that it's an impossible task to let Directx 10 run on any other platform beside Vista. A group of hackers who are currently working on a project called "The Alky Project" will proof differently in one of the next couple of months to come.

It's already been shown as a hoax by multiple tech sites. The authors of the app have been taking donations at about $50 a pop since October, but have not shown any original coding modules yet. Even their demos are malfunctioning code. Plus, they have been contacted by Wine for integration and refuse to work with them. Nice dream, but a more responsible project needs to step up if they want this done.

Ok, it could be a hoax. I'm not denying that. Still there is no real proof of it being fake yet. Wine is working on it that's for sure.
The fact that Wine (who should not be underestimated) contacts these guys does say something about Wine developers believing it could be done using a Wrapper. Only time will tell.

I think you'll see it ported over, but it'll be more than a half year or more after the 1st DX10 Windows apps/games are out just because of the hardware issues alone. Expect it to come from a full developer team that has put months into the project and not a single individual. Wine knows there are definitely users who want it and they will jump at the first developer group who can promise it.
