8600gt quake 4

i recently purchased a evga geforce 8600gt and installed/run latest drivers. i was able to play halo maxed out, doom 3 1024x768 resolution with 8 aa/af high quality 60+ fps. but then i downloaded quake 4 demo and when i ran it i got this message:

does anybody know what's the problem

specs: intel core 2 duo e6300, 1 gig of ram, 500 psu, 8600gt and latest drivers from nvidia site.

thanks, i finished the problem. the problem was my crappy vista, i had to allow it permission so i ran as admin and clicked allow (lol). thanks a lot though, seeing as you took time out of your time to help me out. here are some of my benchies, not as worse as people say:

Halo 1024x768 high everything vysnc maxed out (couldn't find fps b/c it has no console)

Doom 3 1024x768 8 a/af high quality 63 (game locks on 63 fps)

Quake 4 1024x768 8 a/af high quality low 43's high 63's (once agian 60 fps lock)

sorry i don't have any other resolutions, but my screen is small and only supports 1024 and barley 1200x1024. i tried 16 anti alias and that's where the video card falls down to about 23 fps. other than that the 8600gt is a decent video card with 1024 resolution and 8 anti aliasing no higher.

also this is GT and not gts. i got this video card at www.circuitcity.com for 119 dollars after mail in rebate. beats tigerdirects and neweggs 160~ price. very pleased with the card. cheers

the Gt can be Oc and be very stable and gain about 6-10+ fps in game.
