it's just a question i have in mind..... i'm currently using 1280x1024 as my default resolution... but whenever i play games, i feel like the fps is better at 1024x768 resolution. so, my question is will it wear out the monitor/graphics card faster if i keep changing resolution? my definition of changing resolution is on normal dektop i use 1280x1024 but in games i use 1024x768... Any comments would be appreciated....

Changing resolution will not wear out any part of your computer, however if the monitor is LCD/TFT with an optimal resolution of 1280x1024 there is a notable decrease in image quality running at 1024x768. Not only because there are less lines but because the 768 lines are stretched onto 1024.

You will get better fps at lower resolutions because of less stress on the gpu. (generally).

No you shouldnt hurt any thing.
It is usually desireable to run the res. at your monitors native res.
