Well, back in the day there were some software/operating system upgrades
available for the HP Jornada 680.......Driver for 64,000 color display for
example, 128 bit security upgrade?? There may have been other upgrades.
They are not available on the HP site for download anymore. Does anyone know
where they might be available? Does anyone have clearer recollections of
what was available.
Many thanks.

Hi Neill,
Just to let you know that this post should have went to the handheldpc
board. But anyways to answer your question.
I bought a J680 32MB RAM upgrade in 2003 off Ebay for like $100. What
it did was give me the following.
1. 32MB RAM over 16
2. 64,000 colors
3. Some new apps and security enhancements
4. Some bug fixes
To be honest with you these days I would reccommend you buy a Jornada
720. The 720 has many, many advantages over the 680. In 2003 a 720
cost a pretty penny, but these days you can buy them for under $300 on
ebay.
However with the purchase of my ibook and Zire 72 I am finding little
use for my Jornada 720 anymore. Maybe one day I might sell it I dont
know. It has some documents that cannot be opened on a Macintosh or
Palm (at least in the same format and appearance) so I will keep both it
and my PC around for the time being. But when I do decide to sell, you
may be interested. But if you cant wait I'd go with the 720 on ebay.
It will be worth the extra money.
If you wish I'd bee happy to email you some screenshots of the Jornada
720 desktop. Just go to my website and find my address there.

I think the entire HPC market not thus the 680 has the exact same
problem. I have a Jornada 720, but many have also left this platform.
Not as many as the 680 though.

I did have a backup for that file, but it got lost or deleted after I
bought a 720 in 2003.

Have many also left the 200LX for the Palm/PPC?

True. Many still use the 72x though
