Does vista require user to boot to safemode everytime new hardware is added to system?

I just added 2GB DDR 400MHZ to my existing system of 1GB. Vista refused to boot to normal window mode except for boot screen. The system reboots back to beginning.

probably just need to enter your bios setup once and then save it.

Your bios knows that memory has changed but may not know exactly what so it needs to run its setup routines again. It is probably just flagging a memory issue to Vista.

If you've already done that, then it's time to pull out the mem-test programs...

This is NOT standard procedure for Vista - it must be a feature of your BIOS.

right, but it has been a pc bios issue (for some) for many years - Vista just uses the memory specs supplied by the bios.
