I finally started to build my PC and things are going ok but I've ran into a bit of confusion.

I bought a Core Duo E4300 retail but there is no thermal paste included like in the DIY guide... Is this normal or do i need to go buy some before I continue?

Thanks for answering my noob question, It's my first build and I don't want to make any big mistakes like frying my cpu...

The retail should have came with a HSF that has it already applied on the bottom of it. It should be protected by plastic covering. It should work well as it is.

Also if you ever remove the HSF, it is recommended to replace the thermal compound (cleaning it with rubbing alcohol), so having a tube of thermal compound on hand, like AS5 would be a good idea.

But once you get it on, be sure its secured/seated correctly, and don't take it off unless you have to.

Edit:

Here's a movie that can help:

Thanks for letting me know its ok. I was worried about it as I didn't have any paste on hand and the local computer shop is closed already.

Thanks again, Kaeta.
