Hi, im new to this forum and require some expertise...
I have recently built my first machine and now failed at the final hurdle, so wonder if anyone can help. My specs are:

Pentium D 2.8
Zalman 9500 Heatsink/Fan
Asus P5ND2-SLI
Inno3D GeForce 7600GT
2GB (2x1gb) OCZ DDR2 667mhz PC25400 'Special Ops' edition
Hiper Type R 580W PSU
Antec Nine Hundred Case
Maxtor 200gb SATA HDD
Seagate 120gb IDE HDD
Sony CD-RW
Sony DVD RW

So now i come to install xp again, and it falls over during the "Setup is starting windows" screen. Ive tried taking one of the memory sticks out and tried each slot seperatley. Also tried turning down the memory to 400mhz.
Sometimes i get the Error Code 0x0000007E, which points to a memory issue??
Does anybody know anything about any potential compatibility issues between this hardware?

Any help is greatly appreciated

Have you tried switching the hard disk that you are installing to? I have a feeling it may be a SATA issue.

Thanks for the help so far guys, bit still no joy.

pkellmey: i have tried again with my SATA drive disconnected and got the same problem.

edklite: Here is the full error code: STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x70252074, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x70252074)

Do you think it may be a config issue with the RAM? I have not updated or flashed the bios (apart from taking out the battery!) as im not sure how to??

This is still rather frustrating, but thankyou for your assistance...anymore would be great!!

Take out or disconnect everything you dont need to install. Goto 1 hard drive, 1 cd-rom, memory, video card. try install again. Add any addon cards and drives after windows is installed.

sounds like you got bad drivers somewhere, it maybe your sata controller card for the mombo but try what strum says first and see what happens. ;)

Agreed, but i have already tried that.
Removing the SATA takes me down to using one hdd, and with 1 cd drive i still get the same result??
I was hoping of an answer regarding my graphics card or RAM compatibility?? (as this is something i cannot easily test) Do you guys know of any issues surrounding the use of this specific graphics card? or the choice of RAM?? i have read elsewhere of theoretical compatibility issues between OCZ and ASUS, but no specific examples??
I am just running out of ideas now......

But thanks for your support thus far, keep the ideas rolling as i will be one happy bunny if it works!!!!
