Sound Blaster Live! ct4830 or onboard sound?
xringx
Its an old card, 1998? Model is CT4830
Motherboard is Gigabyte ga-k8u-939 using Realtek ALC850 Audio AC'97 Codec
I use headphones for gaming (plantronics Gamecom pro 1 usb) and have a 2.1 desktop speakers.
When i play my game, i plug in the headphones. Otherwise its desktop speakers.
Questions.
1. Does the SB live! affect the usb headset sound? Or do they run independently?
2. which provide better sound?
3. I am mostly curious about the gaming sound, so if the answer to 1 is that sb live does affect the usb headset, is it better?
Thanks

Buy a new card, that thing is way outdated and the onboard should easily outperform the SB.
I bought this for a friend about 6 months ago he loves it and has had no complaints.
If your looking to stick to a creative card though theirs always this. -
It doesn't really matter how old the card is - the only question is whether it can do what you want it to do or not.
If I am not mistaken, the USB headset is actually a sound device on its own - I don't own one and haven't messed with it. If it is a sound device, then when using it, you wouldn't be using the sound from either the onboard sound or the CT4830.
If you use the USB headset for gaming and your sound card for music then try the kX drivers for the CT4830.
